- Q) Can Remote Kitten work over the internet or does it only work over WIFI?
- A) Using the software like this is not officially supported, but there is no reason why Remote Kitten wont work over the internet using your mobile internet connection.
- Q) What port does Remote Kitten use?
- A) Remote Kitten uses port 35814 to comunicate with your media center. There is no option to change the port at this time.
- Q) Is Remote Kitten secure?
- A) Remote Kitten communicates with your media center using an SSL connection. The first time you run the windows service a unique self signed certificate is generated. The program is not designed for use over the internet though it is more secure then the competition.
- Q) How can I stop Remote Kitten from launching every time I log into Windows?
- A) Remote Kitten needs to run in the background in order to receive messages from your mobile phone. If you would rather start the service manually you can delete it from the start menu group “Startup”. Alternativly you can remove the software using Programs and Features in the windows control panel.
- Q) What operating systems are supported?
- A) Remote Kitten is supported on Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
- Q) I haven’t updated the windows service for a long time. How do I know if I am running the latest version.
- A) The mobile application will notify you if your windows service needs to be updated.
- Q) I receive an error: There was an error loading the TLS certificate
- A) Try running the installation as an Administrator.
