I suspect a lot of users have been confused by the layout of this website. I get about 3 to 5 registrations and a few password resets per day.
This is a little odd because registration is only required for posting on the forum and very few of these registered users post there.
I think people are clicking on the register link when they simply want to set up Remote Kitten. I have shuffled the menu around a bit and added a new landing page. See if that helps
We have submitted the latest version of Remote Kitten to the app store!
The paid version now gains a touch pad, qwerty keyboard and 5 colour themes. Both versions have had a graphical overhaul and now jump back to the main screen after you select an option from the launch screen.
The app now runs on Windows XP but I have not tested it with the media center application. I would be interested to hear how it goes!
I expect the update to be approved within the next fee weeks.
It’s tough to decide on an advertising network to use in a free iPhone app. I started off using AdWhirl for that very reason. AdWhirl is a mediation layer that sits between the advertising networks and your application so you can change networks at any time.
Unfortunately when I released version 1.0 AdWhirl didn’t support the biggest network out there AdMob.
Two weeks latter AdWhirl is acquired by AdMob! Kind of defeats the purpose of Ad-Mediation doesn’t it, when the biggest player owns the mediation layer.
The next version of Remote Kitten uses a custom mediation layer. It basically sends out a request to our server first which tells it which network to use. I have integrated both Mobclix and AdMob. Glad I did now!
I have just rolled out version 1.1 of the Windows Service. It contains the following changes.
Windows XP support. ( Not tested in media centre. )
Full alpha keyboard support. ( For version 1.1 of the App. )
Mouse support ( For version 1.1. of the App. )
The mouse and keyboard support will come out when the next version of Remote Kitten is approved on the App Store. The new windows service is backwards compatible with version 1.0.
Remote Kitten has been on the App store for a few months now. All of the reviews I have read are very positive. Functionally it is a very good little program. It’s great that people are using it every day. That’s what I love about making software.
Some of the changes on the horizon:
Slight graphical overhaul.
Ability to change the colour scheme.
Automatic jump from the launch tab to the main tab after you press a button.
I will be submitting those changes sometime this week.
There are many other feature requests that are really good but I am going to focus on an Android port of remote kitten first. I would like to get into that market as soon as possible.
