It’s tough to decide on an advertising network to use in a free iPhone app. I started off using AdWhirl for that very reason. AdWhirl is a mediation layer that sits between the advertising networks and your application so you can change networks at any time.
Unfortunately when I released version 1.0 AdWhirl didn’t support the biggest network out there AdMob.
Two weeks latter AdWhirl is acquired by AdMob! Kind of defeats the purpose of Ad-Mediation doesn’t it, when the biggest player owns the mediation layer.
Now AdMob has been aquired by Google. This space is really heating up!
The next version of Remote Kitten uses a custom mediation layer. It basically sends out a request to our server first which tells it which network to use. I have integrated both Mobclix and AdMob. Glad I did now!
Hi Jared,
I’m one of the founders of Tapjoy (http://www.tapjoy.com) and I’d love to chat with you about your choice of mediation layer.
Tapjoy is unique in that we monitor 11 ad networks and select the highest-paying ad in real-time to show into you application. If that ad isn’t available, we’ll goto the second highest paying and so forth and so on.
We got started building app for iPhone/Android on our own so we’re passionate about making life easy for developers.
Please let me know if you’re be interested in discussing further as we’d love your feedback.
Best regards,
Lee
